Boavista FC are back on top in Portugal after a narrow 2-1 victory tonight over SC Salgueiros.
Sporting in second
Goals from Serginho and Martelinho, either side of a Mário Loja own goal, ensured the champions leapfrogged Sporting Clube de Portugal and now have 66 points from 29 matches. Sporting, who take on CS Marítimo on Sunday, have played a game less and are two points behind.
Early goal
Sergio scored as early as the seventh minute but Boavista were pegged back in the 56th minute. However midfield player Martelinho restored the home side’s advantage 12 minutes later.
