Three more years
The three-year deal follows 12 months of negotiations and secures Beckham's future ahead of the FIFA World Cup finals. The 27-year-old midfield player would have been out of contract next summer. United broke the news prior to this afternoon's home game against Charlton Athletic FC, when Beckham appeared on the pitch with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
'United are my club'
"The club has bent over backwards to be fair in their dealings with me and I always knew that Manchester United were the only club I ever want to play for," Beckham said. "I was never really worried about the contract, but I did want it all sorted out before the World Cup."
No deal for Johnsen
According to reports, Beckham will become the world's best-paid footballer receiving an estimated €109,747 a week plus €31,356 in image rights. While Beckham is staying, United have confirmed that Norwegian international defender Ronny Johnsen will leave the club this summer after six years after not being offered a new contract.
