Dutch Eredivisie runners-up PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of FC Groningen's 18-year-old midfield player Jordi Hoogstrate, although he will stay with his current club for another season.
Five-year deal
The Dutch Under-19 captain has agreed a five-year deal, but will spend the 2002/03 campaign on loan at Oosterpark before linking up with Eric Gerets's side.
Need for experience
He caught PSV's attention after breaking into Groningen's first team this season, and will be allowed to remain there in order to gain more experience before he is in a position to win a regular place in his new side's lineup.
Following Robben to PSV
Hoogstrate will be following fellow academy product Arjen Robben to PSV. Robben is set to join up with the Eindhoven club in the summer after a similar one-year loan-back with Groningen after being signed by PSV prior to the 2001/02 season.
