Sergen goes back to Besiktas

Besiktas JK have signed Turkish international Sergen Yalçin from Siirt JSK.

Besiktas JK have signed Turkish international Sergen Yalçin from 2. division side Siirt JSK.

Two-year deal
Sergen, who had been playing on loan last season for Galatasaray SK, has signed a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

'Extremely happy'
"Transfers have always been a big problem for me. I have spent most of my career being loaned out, so I'm extremely happy now that this problem has been resolved and I want to thank Besiktas once again. I am very excited because I will play for Besiktas again," he said.

Besiktas buoyed
"Sergen will continue his career at Besiktas and finish it there as well," Besiktas vice-president Hasmet Bedii Kürüm said.

Loan star
Sergen began his career with Besiktas in 1991, coming through their youth system and remained there until 1996 when a dispute with a member of the club's board led to his departure to Istanbulspor AS, where he stayed for just one season. The 2. division club Siirt then signed him, but he refused to play for a second division club and so was loaned out to a range of other teams in Turkey.

Top four
From 1998 to 2002, Sergen represented some of the biggest clubs in the Turkish first division, including Fenerbahçe SK, Galatasaray and Trabzonspor, becoming the only player ever to have played for the top four teams in Turkey.

Summer off
The talented midfield player, who has been capped 36 times by his country, is absent from this summer's 2002 FIFA World Cup finals because of a serious knee injury.
