AIK Solna coach Peter Larsson has quit the club after just seven matches in charge.

AIK Solna coach Peter Larsson has quit the club after just seven matches in charge of the Allsvenskan club, it was revealed today.

Poor start
The pre-season favourites for the Swedish first division title have had a poor start to the season and are third from bottom with just one win to their name. Larsson admitted that the club's current position was the reason for his decision.

'I'm responsible'
"The main reason why I'm quitting is our terrible start to the season,'' he said. "We have just got worse and as the trainer I'm responsible. There are 19 rounds to go in Allsvenskan and with this decision I want to give another trainer and the whole team the chance of a new start."

Too much travelling

Chairman shocked
AIK vice-chairman Sanny Aslund said that the decision came as a shock to him. "We can only say that Peter chose to leave," said Aslund. "It wasn't what we expected, not least because we had just agreed that Peter would continue for the rest of the season. We have temporarily landed in a difficult situation and now we have to find a solution."

Two-month period
Larsson took over in March from Olle Nordin, who has been granted a leave of absence due to ill health.
