Article body
FC Vaduz won the Liechtensteiner Cup for the fifth year running in typically superb fashion with a 6-1 victory over FC USV Eschen-Mauren.
European place
The win gives Vaduz a place in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup, after taking their goal tally in the last five finals to 29. It means they have lifted the trophy for the 31st time in its 57-year history.
Surprise lead
Eschen surprisingly took the lead against their Swiss Nationalliga B rivals through Musslum Atav to give them hope of revenge after losing six cup finals in 16 years to Vaduz.
Merenda puts Vaduz ahead
However, Vaduz were level within 16 minutes thanks to a Marius Zarn header, and then took the lead just before the break with a goal from leading scorer Moreno Merenda.
Holders cruise home
After half-time the holders cruised home, two goals from Daniele Polverino, another from Zarn and a penalty from goalkeeper Carlos Silva securing the triumph.
