De Graafschap have ended Jurrie Koolhof's tenure as coach despite avoiding relegation.

De Graafschap have ended the tenure of coach Jurrie Koolhof after a season that saw them finish 14th in the Eredivisie, only avoiding the relegation play-offs on goal difference.

Koolhof disappointed
Koolhof has held various roles at De Graafschap since joining the club in 1994, including a position with the youth development programme prior to his appointment as coach. He admitted he was disappointed at having to leave the club, saying: "This is a strange situation, but I guess I just have to accept it. Either as a head coach, or as an assistant, I have helped keep this club in the top flight for the past three years. So they really should know what my qualities are."

Marsman explains decision
Gerard Marsman, De Graafschap's manager of football affairs, said: "De Graafschap does not see in Koolhof the coach they need for next season and that is why we have parted with him." A former Dutch international, Koolhof's playing career included spells with FC Groningen, his hometown club, PSV Eindhoven and SBV Vitesse.
