Article body
PFC CSKA Sofia have appointed Stoycho Mladenov to take over coaching duties from Luigi Simoni, who leaves the club when his contract expires on 1 June.
No agreement
CSKA's press officer announced on Friday that after a meeting between Simoni and club president Vasil Bozhkov, the Italian's contract would not be extended. He was in charge of the club for 22 games, nine of which were won, five drawn and eight lost.
Poor season
CSKA not only lost the A PFG title to archrivals PFC Levski Sofia, but they also failed to win the BFS Cup final against Levski, who went on to also have to fight to keep hold of third place in the league with FC Lokomotiv Plovdiv just a point behind in fourth.
Former player
Mladenov was appointed general manager of CSKA just two weeks ago. Simoni then announced that he was looking forward to working with the former Bulgarian national team manager, who was in charge of domestic transfers. But after CSKA failed to win a trophy, it turned out that their former striker would take over from Simoni.
