Article body
IFK Norrköping have become the first Allsvenskan team to dismiss their coach this season after announcing the end of Bangt-Arne Strömberg's reign due to poor results.
Board "forced to act"
A statement from Norrköping, currently bottom of the table after winning just one of their first seven games, said: "The lack of success on the pitch during the first seven league games has forced the board to act in order to prevent IFK Norrköping from being relegated. In order to achieve a quick change the board has decided to release Bangt-Arne Strömberg from his duties at the club." Managing director Tommy Wisell has also left after 18 years at the club.
Ericson in charge
Håkan Ericson, son of former Sweden coach Georg Ericson, has succeeded Strömberg, with current assistant Tony Martinsson being given more influence over the team. Tor-Arne Fredheim, sacked as coach last year, is back at Norrköping to work on youth development. Despite being one of the big names in Swedish football, Norrköping only avoided relegation in 2001 after a play-off with Mjällby AIF.
