Article body
Fylkir burst out of the starting blocks tonight with a 3-0 away win at FH Hafnarfjördur.
Opening day
A double strike from Saevar Tor Gislason and a further effort from Björn Asbjörnsson - all in the first half - gave Fylkir a resounding opening-day triumph that puts them top of the table. Last season's champions ÍA Akranes, however, made a disappointing start with a 1-0 home defeat against newly promoted Thór, Hordur Runarsson scoring the game's only goal in the 24th minute.
Eyjólfsson equaliser
Grindavík and KR Reykjavík occupy third and fourth places respectively after they played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Paul McShane put Grindavík ahead in the tenth minute but the home side struck back through Sigurvin Ólafsson after 26 minutes.
Ólafur Örn Bjarnason restored Grindavík's lead from the penalty spot two minutes later but Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjólfsson grabbed a point for the hosts 20 minutes from time.
Score draws
Elsewhere, Keflavík and Fram Reykjavík drew 1-1, while KA Akureyri and ÍBV Vestmannæyjar also shared the points after a 1-1 draw.
