Article body
Juande Ramos will not continue as Real Betis Balompié coach next season after failing to agree an extension to his contract with the Spanish first division club, it was announced today.
'Fair salary'
"I asked for an amount that was fair and [Betis president] Manuel Ruiz de Lopera decided he couldn't pay it," Ramos said. "Time will tell if that is the correct decision."
European spot
Ramos joined Betis from Rayo Vallecano before the start of last season and guided the side to sixth spot in the Primera División and a place in the UEFA Cup this year.
Espanyol bound
The Spanish media have been speculating that Ramos could join RCD Espanyol next season. Meanwhile, Javier Irureta has ended rumours over his future as coach of RC Deportivo La Coruña by signing a one-year extension to his contract with the club. His present deal had been due to expire at the end of June.
