Aquilina brings back Mraz

Pavel Mraz has rejoined Maltese Premier League club Sliema Wanderers FC on a two-month deal.

Czech player Pavel Mraz has rejoined Maltese Premier League club Sliema Wanderers FC on a two-month loan deal.

Polonia await
Sliema believe that the player's arrival will help them in their attempt to beat KP Polonia Warszawa from the Ekstraklasa in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup which takes place on 15 and 29 August.

Old mentor
Mraz had fallen out of favour with his last employers, Valletta FC, during the course of the 2001/02 season and even moved to Nadur Youngsters FC. However, new Sliema coach Edward Aquilina appears to have rekindled the out-of-contract 34-year-old's interest in the game.

Past glories
Mraz was part of the all-conquering Valletta side which, under Aquilina's guidance, dominated Maltese football between 1994 and 1998, winning every domestic trophy on offer, including a clean sweep of honours in the 1996/97 season.
