Seven candidates officially present their bids to host EURO 2008 at a special ceremony at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Wednesday.
The candidates are:
· Austria/Switzerland,
· Bosnia-Herzegovina/Croatia,
· Greece/Turkey,
· Hungary,
· Denmark/Finland/Norway/Sweden (Nordic 2008),
· Russia
· Scotland/Republic of Ireland
Bid dossiers
All of the candidates – either one national association or joint ventures involving two or more national associations – submitted complete bid dossiers to UEFA by the deadline of the end of May. Their presentations at the House of European Football on Wednesday will be made in alphabetical order.
Stockholm exhibition
The procedure for candidatures for European football's blue-riband competition for national teams began last year, and all of the candidates have already taken part in an exhibition at the UEFA Congress in Stockholm in April, when they were given the opportunity to show the strength of their bids to the UEFA member associations, the public and the media.
Inspection visits
UEFA will make inspection visits to the bidding countries between August and October 2002, and the final decision on the hosts of EURO 2008 is scheduled to be taken by the UEFA Executive Committee on 12/13 December 2002.
