Two weeks to prepare
Grozny, assistant coach at Russian club FC Spartak Moscow until last month, said: "Kiev Mayor Olexander Omelchenko offered me the Arsenal job and I accepted it." He has just two weeks to prepare his squad before the start of the 2002/03 season, the side having finished 12th last term, only avoiding relegation on the final day.
Difficult year
They have had a difficult year, which has included a change of ownership, having previously been known as FC CSCA Kyiv while controlled by the defence ministry as the army club.
