UEFA is to host the annual workshop of the European Stadium Management Association (ESMA) at its headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on 18 and 19 July.
Joint partnership
The workshop follows an agreement by ESMA and UEFA to launch a joint partnership aimed at ensuring optimum security in stadiums and increasing comfort at football venues. New trends ESMA is a non-profit-making association uniting stadium managers throughout Europe, whose main objective is to work together with the managers to keep in touch with developments and new trends in the stadium branch.
Common goals
Both UEFA and ESMA have common goals – ensuring proper stadium security, optimum organisation of European competitions and enhancing football’s image as a friendly family sport.
Commercial awareness
Another objective is to increase awareness of the commercial possibilities of stadiums as a platform for commercial and marketing activities.
Create standards
The partnership between ESMA and European football's governing body also aims to set up a common programme for training stadium managers, create standards and stadium certification criteria, and monitor the evolution of stadium facilities.
UEFA commitment
In addition, the partnership will allow UEFA to make a clear demonstration of its commitment in the field of management and organisation of competitions, by using the network of ESMA members.
