Article body
Viking FK will not keep their Swedish coach Benny Lennartsson on board when his contract runs out at the end of the current Tippeligaen season.
Good job
"We are satisfied with the job Benny did and the results he got as a manager," said director Bjarne Berntsen.
Second spell
Lennartsson is currently enjoying his second spell at the club after he guided Viking to the Norwegian premier division title in 1991 prior to Rosenborg BK’s ten successive championships.
Disappointing season
Viking finished third in the Norwegian table in both 2000 and 2001, but Lennartsson’s return has, however, failed to have the desired effect and the Stavanger club are currently nine points off the pace set by leaders SFK Lyn.
Replacements line up
Speculation in the Norwegian press has already named former Stoke City FC manager Gudjon Thordarsson and IK Start coach Jan Halvor Halvorsen as Lennartsson's most likely successors.
