A 2-0 win against FC Dinaburg saw FK Ventspils take a four-point lead at the top of the Virsliga.
Stubborn resistance
Dinaburg provided stubborn resistance in a goalless first half but Yevgeny Landirev scored both goals for the league leaders late in the second half to seal all three points at the Pilsetas stadium. Landirev's first came after 72 minutes and he doubled the lead with just three minutes left on the clock.
Liepajas on top
Second-placed FC Skonto needed two late goals to salvage a draw at FHK Liepajas Metalurgs. Kristap Grebis gave Liepaya the lead in the 29th minute and Victor Dobretsov looked to have put the game beyond the visitors with the second goal three minutes after half-time.
Skonto comeback
Skonto fought back in the second half though and Levan Korgalidze gave his team hope when he pulled a goal back in the 70th minute. The comeback was complete just a minute later when Alexander Yeliseyev levelled the match.
A point for Riga
FK Riga remain at the bottom of the table despite after earning only their fourth point of the season with a 1-1 draw against FK Valmiera. PFK/Daugava and FK Auda also shared the points after playing out a goalless draw in Sunday's remaining fixture.
