KR Reykjavík lost 3-0 at ÍBV Vestmannæyjar on Sunday to lose the leadership of the Urvalsdeild.

KR Reykjavík relinquished the leadship of the Urvalsdeild to Fylkir tonight after slumping to a 3-0 defeat at ÍBV Vestmannæyjar.

Tomasson opener
Tomas Ingi Tomasson gave ÍBV the lead on the stroke of half-time, skipping past a defender before firing a shot into the left-hand corner of the net. KR battled manfully to try to get themselves back into the match, but they failed to score and went 2-0 behind 20 minutes from time.

Loose defending
Bjarnolfur Larusson picked up the ball 27 metres from goal after a poor clearance from the KR defence and struck a long-range effort that took a deflection before finding the back of the net.
The win was secured three minutes from time when Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson finished neatly from close range after an assist from Atli Johannsson.

Top of the pile
That result meant a win for Fylkir against Thór Akureyri would put them top of the table by a point and they duly did so with a 4-2 victory. Valur Fannar Gislason put Fylkir ahead with a well-struck shot from 22 metres out and the home side took a two-goal lead after 14 minutes when Sævar Thor Gislason netted from close range.

Gislason double
Just as the home side were coasting, however, Thór hit back in the 28th minute through Johann Thorhallsson's superb long-range drive. The two-goal lead was restored a minute after half-time by Thedor Oskarsson, but they were pegged back again just four minutes later when Ashley Wooliscroft made it 3-2 with a goal on his debut. Some nervy moments in the home side's defence followed, but Gislason settled matters for Fylkir with his second of the match and his team's fourth in the last minute.

Missed opportunity
In tonight's other match, third-placed KA Akureyri wasted the chance to close the gap on the pacesetters after losing 1-0 at home to Grindavík thanks to Vignir Helgason's strike.
