Pick your UEFA stars of the season

The curtain has come down on the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League season – and the UEFA technical study group has produced short lists of their top coaches and players of the past campaign.

Dream team
In addition, the study group is also selecting a UEFA Champions League "Dream Team" to mark the tenth anniversary of the launching of European club football's most prestigious competition.

Now, supporters are being invited to cast their own votes for three different categories via special polls on uefa.com, by accessing the poll links listed below.

Gala award nominees
Some of Europe's top football technicians are on the study group, and they have put forward nominees to receive the annual awards presented at the UEFA Football Gala which is held at the end of August to herald the start of a new UEFA club competition season.

Six candidates for each award
The group have named six candidates for each of the awards presented to the best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, best attacker, most valuable player and best coach, on the basis of their displays in the past season's European club competition season. Nominees not only come from the UEFA Champions League. They include Feyenoord coach Bert van Marwijk, whose side defeated BV Borussia Dortmund to win the UEFA Cup.

All-star squad
The second category put forward by the study group includes 63 players who are in the running to be included in the all-star squad on the basis of their performances in the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League season.

Ten-year stars
Finally, to commemorate ten years of the UEFA Champions League, the study group has also put forward candidates for their "Dream Team", based on performances over the past decade. The list of candidates consists of six goalkeepers, 19 defenders, 25 midfield players and 21 attackers.
