Munteanu makes Dinamo move

FC Dinamo Bucuresti have paid CS Otelul Galati €105,000 for goalkeeper Cristian Munteanu.

European ambitions
Dinamo, who won the Romanian title on the final day of the season, were keen to land a top-class keeper ahead of their summer participation in UEFA Champions League qualifying. The 27-year-old Munteanu has signed a four-year contract.

Loan ended
Dinamo were desperate to replace Bogdan Lobont after his loan spell from AFC Ajax ended and he returned to Amsterdam. Munteanu, Romania's third-choice keeper, fitted the bill perfectly after another impressive Divizia A season.

Former spell
Munteanu, a former youth international, has played 232 top-flight games for FC Farul Constanta, FC National Bucuresti and Otelul. Munteanu also had a six-month spell with Dinamo during the first half of the 1996/97 season, playing just the two games.

'Great wish'
"It was my great wish to play for Dinamo, especially because there are more perspectives than there were in Galati, such as the possibility to play if not in the Champions League, then in the UEFA Cup," said Munteanu. Dinamo have assured fans that their spending will not end with the purchase of Munteanu.
