Legia Warszawa have lost six players as they prepare for their UEFA Champions League campaign.

Polish champions Legia Warszawa have lost six players as they prepare for their UEFA Champions League campaign.

Title joy
Legia delighted their supporters last season by taking the Ekstraklasa title, but they face an uphill task to repeat that achievement this season after a host of key players have decided to move elsewhere.

Lure of Germany
Poland international players Bartosz Karwan and Maciej Murawski have both moved to German clubs. Karwan has joined Hertha BSC Berlin while Murawski has signed for newly-promoted DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Cypriot moves
Meanwhile, the team's top scorer Sylwester Czereszewski has joined Cypriot side AEL Limassol FC while Mariusz Piekarski has joined fellow Poles Wojciech Kowalczyk, Radoslaw Michalski, Salwomir Majak at Anorthosis Famagusta FC.

Svitlica departs
Yugoslavian striker Stanko Svitlica is seeking a new club too, as his private owner has failed to reach an agreement with the Legia authorities. Elsewhere, Macedonian defender Marjan Gerasimovski's loan period has finished and the club has elected not to pursue a permanent deal.

Vukovic signs
However, there has been some good news for Legia as coach Dragomir Okuka has secured a permanent deal for FK Partizan playmaker Aleksander Vukovic who had a successful loan spell in Warsaw last season.

Back from loan
Two other players have returned to the Wojska Polskiego stadium after loan spells. Midfield player Marek Citko was playing for Hapoel Beer-Sheva in Israel while forward Marcin Mieciel was with BV Borusia Mönchengladbach.
