Örgryte IS's Brazil striker Afonso Alves rescued a point for the Allsvenskan leaders as they were held to a 1-1 draw by GIF Sundsvall today.
Late show
Joel Cedergren put the home side in front 18 minutes from time, despite being reduced to ten men by Hans Bergh's dismissal on 63 minutes. But they were denied a famous win by Afonso, who struck a superb free-kick from 20 metres out that left Fredrik Sundfors stranded, four minutes from the end.
Kalmar victorious
Örgryte stay top of the first division, three points clear of second-placed Landskrona BoIS, who were beaten 3-1 at home by lowly Kalmar FF. Håkan Lindqvist put the visitors in front after 12 minutes, but in the 35th minute Håkan Söderstierna levelled the scores with a stunning 18-metre drive. Breakaway goals from Patrik Elmander and Damir Spahic, in the 59th and 84th minutes respectively, sealed the win for Kalmar, who climb away from the relegation places.
