Article body
SK Hradec Králové and SK Slavia Praha kicked off their new 1. liga campaigns with a 1-1 draw at the Všesportovní stadium.
Early chance
Both sides looked nervous during the opening exchanges, but Slavia created the first real chance after 15 minutes when a mistake by Pavel Kubes allowed Tomas Dosek through on goal with only keeper Michal Caloun to beat.
Kraus on target
Fortunately for Kubes, Dosek failed to take his chance and ten minutes later the home side found themselves in front. A defensive mistake, coupled with a neat through-ball from David Kriz, gave Jan Kraus his chance and he made no mistake from ten metres.
Vachousek strike
However, Slavia were soon back on level terms when Stepan Vachousek equalised with a fine solo effort, beating three men before firing in from eight metres. The visitors dominated the remainder of the half, but Hradec had the best chance as Kraus forced an athletic save from Radek Cerny in the final minute.
Last chance
Both sides struggled to maintain their earlier pace after the break, and Karel Pitik's 77th-minute volley was the last real scoring chance of the game.
