Assistants step in
The 38-year-old, who played for AFC Ajax and Genoa 1893, said that he felt his decision was the best one for the club. Assistants Eddy Achterberg and Rini Coolen will replace Van't Schip for the time being.
Disappointing season
In his first year as head coach, Van't Schip experienced a disappointing season. As winners of the Dutch Cup in 2001, Twente were expected to be challenging for a place in Europe, but they spent most of the season trying to escape relegation.
