Article body
Greek first division side FC Aris Thessaloniki have released German coach Bernd Krauss and his assistant Hans-Georg Drehsen from their duties.
Financial reasons
The club gave serious financial problems as the reason for their decision. Krauss said that outstanding salary payments and compensation still need to be addressed. "I will return back to Germany in the coming days," he said. "Until now I have not been in contact with any other club for a new job."
Foiros the favourite
The 45-year old joined Aris in February 2002 and helped them finish ninth in the league. Former Aris coach Georgios Foiros is the leading contender to take over.
Akratitos appointment
Meanwhile, Akratitos have appointed Frans Adelaar as their new coach. The 41-year-old Dutchman, who steered FC Utrecht to seventh spot in the Eredivisie last season, will link up with the club for the first time on Friday. Adelaar also steered Utrecht to the final of the Dutch Cup last season only to be beaten by champions AFC Ajax after extra time.
