The season starts here

uefa.com has introduced a new navigation to launch its 2002/03 season coverage.

As part of ongoing enhancements to Europe's football website, uefa.com has introduced a new navigation to launch its 2002/03 season coverage.

Access points
"The intention of the new design is to provide more access points for users," said UEFA New Media CEO Alexandre Fourtoy. "We have dropped the horizontal navigation to replace it with a more user-friendly left-side alternative, while also using the top area to provide additional entry opportunities to our competitions, our content related to the 52 UEFA member associations and also new video, audio and mobile indexes which are still being fine-tuned.

Further improvement to follow
"The changes will not end there," he added. "Users can also expect further improvements to appear online over the coming weeks as we are putting some finishing touches to some major new initiatives which we will detail at a later date."

Extensive coverage
uefa.com launched on 23 August 2001 in time for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup draws in Monaco. The site has since covered every match in the UEFA club competitions, while also providing in-depth features and exclusive analysis from European teams competing in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Exclusive coverage
uefa.com has also had extensive coverage of all other UEFA events and competitions, provided coaching and refereeing insight via Training Ground and created a new weekly pan-European features agenda with Magazine. Current footballing topics are discussed and arcade games played in Fanzone, while Football Europe provides constantly updated information from all European leagues as the race to compete in UEFA's 2003/04 club competitions gets under way. In addition, fantasy football and the Priceless Moments e-cards campaign provided users with the opportunity to become involved with the content proposition on the site.

Enhanced coverage
"We have set the standards in the coverage we provided from matches and draws in UEFA competitions, but we are looking to provide users and fans with more live coverage this season than ever before," said David Farrelly, uefa.com's editor-in-chief. "Not only will we focus on UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup through text, video and audio coverage, but we will have live statistical coverage from all qualifying round matches in both competitions, not to mention comprehensive live coverage of all EURO 2004™ matches when that competition kicks off on Saturday 7 September. But the enhancements will not end there as we have been reviewing the content offering and we envisage a very exciting 2002/03 season on Europe's football website."
