Dundee FC have dismissed Italian coach Ivano Bonetti after a disappointing season for the club.

Dundee FC have dismissed Italian coach Ivano Bonetti and his brother Dario Bonetti after poor results marred the club's 2001/02 campaign.

’Mutually decided’
Dundee chief executive Peter Marr announced the club's decision today after holding lengthy talks with the Bonetti brothers at Dens Park. "After talks with the Bonettis, and the management team, it has been mutually decided to terminate their contract," explained Marr.

Continued absences
The decision ends a long period of speculation about the Bonnettis' future at Dundee after they repeatedly clashed with the club's board of directors during the 2001/02 Scottish Premier League season. A disappointing run of results saw Dundee quickly lose touch with the title race. They ended the season in ninth place in the 12-team Scottish table after Ivano Bonetti further soured relations with the club by spending an increasing periods of time away from Dundee - including a spell away on honeymoon.

Dramatic partnership
Former Juventus FC player Ivano Bonetti had formed a dramatic managerial partnership with Dario Bonetti and had caused a major stir in Scottish football by bringing a number of foreign players to Dens Park including Argentina international Claudio Caniggia who subsequently moved on to Rangers FC.
