FC Spartak Moscow moved into third place in the Russian Premier-Liga after beating FC Torpedo-ZIL Moscow 2-0 this afternoon.

Beschastnykh double
Two first-half goals from Vladimir Beschastnykh gave Spartak the three points. The Russian international opened the scoring on 40 minutes with a penalty after Torpedo goalkeeper Andrei Novosadov brought down Ygor Titov. He doubled his side's advantage three minutes later with an instinctive half-volley.

Lokomotiv still top
Spartak now have 23 points from 13 games, but are still seven adrift of leaders FC Lokomotiv Moscow, who drew with FC Anzhi Makhachkala on Monday.
