FC Dynamo Kyiv moved back to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League after a convincing 5-2 victory over FC Metalurh Zaporizhya tonight.

Shatskikh hat-trick
Dynamo, who are averaging three goals per match this season, took total command of the game as striker Maxim Shatskikh grabbed a hat-trick in a one-sided affair. Valyantin Belkevich and Serhiy Fedorov each scored once, while Zaporizhya managed two goals of their own as Eduard Valutsa and Armen Akopian found the target.

Shakhtar keep pace 
FC Shakhtar Donetsk, the reigning league champions, were made to work hard for their three points but eventually beat FC Karpaty Lviv 4-2, as Olexiy Belyk and Serhiy Popov both scored twice. Shakhtar now have ten points, level in second place with FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and FC Metalurh Donetsk.

Arsenal go fifth
FC Arsenal Kyiv defeated FC Kryvbas Kryviy Rih 1-0, thanks to Serhiy Konovalov's 58th-minute strike, and move into fifth place in the standings, while FC Vorskla Poltava beat FC Metalist Kharkiv by the same scoreline.

First win
In the night's other matches, FC Poligraftekhnika Olexandriya won for the first time this season, beating FC Chernomorets Odesa 2-1 as Volodymyr Maziar and Serhiy Chuichenko scored, while FC Volyn Lutsk defeated FC Tavriya Simferopol by a single goal in their encounter.

The next round of matches sees Shakhtar take on Dynamo Kyiv at the Shakhtyor stadium on Friday.
