FC Arsenal Kyiv routed SC Volyn-1 Lutsk 8-1 tonight to set a new record for the biggest win in the club's history.

Goal feast
Volyn actually opened the scoring when Serhiy Honcharenko scored a penalty after 20 minutes. But in response, Arsenal administered a severe beating, Shalva Apkhazava scoring three, while Emmanuel Okoduwa and Valentin Poltavets scored two apiece. Serhiy Konovalov also scored a penalty for Arsenal.

Big guns win
Giants FC Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Dynamo Kyiv also recorded victories on Wednesday night. Defending champions Shakhtar beat FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhya 1-0, with the only goal of the game coming from Ukraine international Andriy Vorobey.

Dynamo go top
Dynamo, meanwhile, are the only team yet to drop points in the championship, as they outlasted FC Tavriya Simferopol 2-1 to climb to the summit of the table. Maxim Shatskikh and Goran Gavrancic gave Dynamo a 2-0 lead. Shota Chomakhidze scored late in the game as the Kyiv side were made to survive a late spell of pressure from the underdogs.

Metalurh drop points
Elsewhere, FC Metalurh Donetsk dropped their first points of the season, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Karpaty Lviv. Vasyl Shved gave Karpaty a shock lead in the first half, but Serhiy Zakarliuka scored to earn Metalurh a point.

Other games
Elsewhere, FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk beat FC Vorskla Poltava 1-0, while FC Metalurh Mariupil defeated FC Polihraftechnica Olexandria by the same scoreline. FC Metalist Kharkiv recorded their first victory of the season, as they overcame FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih 2-1 while new boys FC Obolon Kyiv beat fellow promoted side FC Chornomorets Odesa 2-0, courtesy of goals from Vyacheslav Tereshenko and Ihor Prodan.
