Blackburn Rovers FC manager Graeme Souness has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

Blackburn Rovers FC manager Graeme Souness has signed a new four-year contract with the English FA Premiership club.

'Really bright future'
Souness, a former manager of Rangers FC and Liverpool FC, the club with whom he performed with such distinction as a player, said: "This is a first-class club with a really bright future and the place I want to be. I had no hesitation in signing a new contract."

Successful season
The Scot, who arrived at Ewood Park in March 2000, guided the Lancashire club to tenth place in the league last season, victory in the League Cup final and, as a result, a place in this season's UEFA Cup.

Duff offer
Meanwhile, Souness confirmed that Republic of Ireland player Damien Duff has been the subject of an enquiry from Liverpool. "We have had a telephone call from Liverpool asking if Damien was available," Souness said. "The answer was 'no'. But if the price was right we would not be in a position to turn a ridiculous offer down."
