Sergo Kotrikadze, 65, has been confirmed as coach of FC Lokomotiv Tbilisi after spending the last three months sharing the role with Gia Jishkariani. The two of them had guided the club to a second-placed finish in last season’s Georgian Premier League.
Foreign coach
Plans had been afoot to invite a foreign coach to replace the joint coaches before the decision was made to give Kotrikadze sole responsibility.
More experience
Lokomotiv vice-president Tariel Gvaberidze explained that they ended up choosing the more experienced of the two joint coaches. Now the management's hope is that Kotrikadze will prove himself in their 2002 UEFA Cup qualifying match against FC København.
