A key performer when Nürnberg won promotion to the 1. Bundesliga in 2000/01, Krzynowek tore ligaments in his right knee during a friendly against minor league club FC Konstanz. He will be operated on by renowned surgeon Professor Hans-Jürgen Eichhorn in Straubing on Friday.
World Cup appearances
Krzynowek, who made his international debut against Slovakia in November 1998, played in all three of Poland's games at the recent FIFA World Cup. He was voted man of the match in the 3-1 victory against the United States, the Poles only success in the Far East.
