Fylkir's unbeaten record was ended by a 3-1 home loss to ÍA Akranes on Sunday.

Urvalsdeild pacesetters Fylkir crashed to a 3-1 home defeat against ÍA Akranes today.

Unbeaten record
Fylkir went into the match with an unbeaten record and with ÍA, last season's champions, suffering a torrid start to the season, the home side were expected to extend their advantage at the top.

Three early goals
But ÍA had not read the script and Bjarki Gunnlaugsson put them ahead after just six minutes, heading in from a corner. Kari Steinn Reynisson doubled the advantage six minutes later when he raced on to a long ball and produced a neat finish. Fylkir were stunned and fell 3-0 behind on the 20-minute mark when Hjörtur Hjartarson headed in Ellert Björnsson's cross.

Penalty serves only as consolation
Saevar Gislason pulled a goal back for Fylkir from the penalty spot after 51 minutes but the visitors held firm to claim only their second win of the season. Fylkir still lead the standings by a point ahead of KR Reykjavík, while ÍA are second from bottom with eight points after eight games.
