Two-year deal
The former Dutch international has agreed a new two-year contract with the 2001/02 Serie B champions as Como aim to make a splash in the Italian top flight in the coming season.
Relegation campaign
Van Gastel had signed with Serie B side Ternana Calcio but his contract was terminated when they were relegated to Serie C and he has been able to join Como on a free transfer.
Medical tests
The 30-year-old, who played in Holland for Willem II and Feyenoord, will undergo a medical examination on Saturday and will sign his contract afterwards.
Feyenoord presence
Van Gastel will be the third former Feyenoord player who will be playing in Serie A in the coming season alongside Julia Cruz at Bologna FC and Jon Dahl Tomasson at Milan AC.
'The perfect solution'
Van Gastel was delighted about his transfer: "Well, this is something I dreamed about," he said. "The situation with Ternana was not ideal, however I never regretted my transfer to Italy. This transfer came to me as a real surprise. This will be the perfect solution for the whole situation."
