FC Metalurh Donetsk moved to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League today after overcoming FC Metalurh Mariupil 2-0.
Top of the pile
Volodymyr Yaksmanytsky opened the scoring in the 24th minute, and Serhiy Dranov added a second 12 minutes from time. Donetsk are now level on points with FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, but are top due to their superior goal difference, with FC Dynamo Kyiv a point back in third having played a game less than their rivals.
Second place
Dnipro go second after beating newly-promoted FC Obolon Kyiv 3-1. Oleh Shelayev scored in the 16th and 72nd, either side of Oleh Venglinsky's 20th-minute goal. Vyacheslav Tereschenko scored what proved to be a consolation goal for Obolon five minutes after the interval.
