Rosenborg BK sent a message to the rest of the Tippeligaen tonight when they beat pacesetters SFK Lyn 3-2 at the Ullevaal Stadium.
Utterly dominant
Rosenborg have been utterly dominant on the domestic front for more than a decade, winning the title every year since 1992. But the Trondheim club have struggled this season and went into this showdown in sixth place, ten points behind their opponents.
Level terms
It was Lyn who scored first through Helgi Sigurdsson in the 34th minute, but Tommy Berntsen put through his own net just before the break and Rosenborg were back on level terms.
Late winner
The champions struck again in the 79th minute when Harald Brattbakk stroked home a penalty, only for Berntsen to redeem himself after his earlier mistake by equalising for the Oslo side five minutes later. Rosenborg's last-gasp winner came from midfield player Odd Inge Olsen.
Five-point lead
Lyn still hold a five-point lead over nearest rivals Odds BK with a game in hand, while Rosenborg have leapfrogged Viking FK into fifth place and are now seven points off top spot.
