Swedish first division newcomers Landskrona BoIS have been hit by the news that striker Danijel Milovanovic is expected to be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury picked up in the game against Malmö FF.
'Really depressing'
The forward, who has scored six goals for the club, has not given up hope of returning this term, but said: "I have suffered from damage to the cruciate ligaments before, and this feels exactly the same. I just hope that they are not torn. This is really depressing and I'm very low at the moment".
'A huge setback'
Landskrona coach Jannes Jönsson had been optimistic after the game and was hoping that it was only a minor injury. But after tests yesterday Jönsson's hopes were dashed. Club spokesman Lars Persson said: "It's a huge setback for us. Danijel is one of the hottest players in the Allsvenskan, and you do not find a player of his calibre that easily". A thorough examination will be carried out on Monday morning, but everything points towards Danijel missing the rest of the season.
Signings likely
Landskrona, who surprisingly led the league prior to the FIFA World Cup finals, have picked up only one point from their last four games and, with defender Afo Dodoo also out for the rest of the season, things are beginning to look gloomy for the club. Persson admitted: "With these injuries we cannot sit and wait. Our ambition is to bolster our squad with two or three players within the next three weeks".
