Replaces Kotrba
Chovanec has agreed a three-year contract and will replace Jirí Kotrba, who resigned after only two rounds of the 2002/03 campaign citing exhaustion. Under Kotrba's guidance, Príbram reached the second round of the UEFA Cup and finished 13th in the domestic league last season.

Three years away
The 42-year-old Chovanec returns to club management after three years with the national team. He was sacked after failing to take the Czechs to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan. Since then he has been working as a scout for AC Sparta Praha, the club he left to take the national team job.

Proud record
Chovanec has a distinguished reputation in Czech football. In 1997, he led Sparta to the title without losing a single , a league record. He then led the national team to the finals of EURO 2000™ with an unprecedented 100 per cent record in qualification.
