Shelbourne FC have signed Scottish striker Mark Roberts on a one-year contract.
Impressive trial
The former Kilmarnock FC player impressed manager Pat Fenlon during a month's trial at the Dublin club. But Shelbourne's plans to sign 20-year-old Rory Fallon from Barnsley FC have been shelved for the meantime.
'Delighted to stay'
Roberts said: "I had a bad time last season when I was released by Aidrieonians FC because of money problems and I didn't know where my career was going. But I enjoyed the month here at Shels and I'm delighted to stay for a year."
Fallon move blocked
But the Reds' plans to sign Rory Fallon from English side Barnsley FC have run into problems. The former England U21 international, who was born in New Zealand, has a year left on his contract with the Nationwide Division Two side, but was keen to move to Dublin on a month's loan to impress manager Pat Fenlon. However, new regulations have banned transfers of players from one jurisdiction to another for a period of less than six months, so Fallon is in limbo.
'Wait and see' - Fenlon
"It's a pity because he is a player I wanted to bring in, so we will have to wait and see if we can work something out," said Fenlon.
