Akademisk Boldklub's former Danish international Heine Fernandez could be out of action for up to 12 months after sustaining a knee injury.

The 36-year-old striker was taken off on a stretcher during the first half of Akademisk's 2-2 draw with AGF Århus at the weekend after twisting his knee and he will have a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

Optimistic
Club doctor, Otto Kraemer, fears the former FC København forward may face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. "I fear he has damaged a cruciate ligament and that means an injury break from between nine to 12 months," Kraemer said. Fernandez, however, remains optimistic. "My foot got stuck in the grass and I twisted my knee. I hope I can play next weekend, but we have to wait and see," he said.
