Latvia round-up: Skonto close the gap

FC Skonto strolled through their Virsliga encounter with SK Valmiera on Sunday, scoring four goals without reply.

Eight-point deficit
A cross from Vladimirs Kolesnicenko enabled Ignas Dedura to give Skonto an early lead. Viktor Morozs doubled the home side's advantage before a second goal from Kolesnicenko and an Olegs Blagonadezdins strike completed the rout. Skonto are now eight points behind leaders FK Ventspils with two games in hand.  

Inspirational Molotkovs
On Saturday, FC Dinaburg beat FK Auda 4-2, led by an inspirational performance by Juris Molotkovs, who scored a hat-trick. The day's other game between PFK/Daugava and FK Riga ended 1-0 thanks to an Aleksandrs Sergejevs goal for Daugava.
