FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk have moved to the top of the Ukrainian Premier League table for the first time in five years.
Mining tragedy
The league fixtures were moved from Saturday to Sunday after 20 people were killed in a Ukrainian mining tragedy in the region of Donetsk.
Unbeaten record
Dnipro, now unbeaten in the first six matches of the season, opened up a one-point lead at the top of the standings with a convincing 3-1 away victory against FC Metalurh Donetsk. Volodymyr Yezersky, Oleh Venhlinsky and Roman Maximiuk all scored for Dnipro, while Olexander Zotov was on target for Metalurh.
Shakhtar shocked
FC Shakhtar Donetsk are third after suffering a shock defeat at the hands of FC Volyn Lutsk. Goals from Serhiy Kryviy and Serhiy Hrebenozhko completed a 2-0 victory for the newly promoted club and inflicted Shakhtar's first loss since 16 July 2000.
Arsenal second
FC Arsenal Kyiv beat FC Obolon Kyiv 2-0 in their derby match, with goals from Patrik Ibanda and Shalva Apkhazava. The result takes Arsenal into second place, a point behind Dnipro. Elsewhere, FC Metalurh Mariupil overpowered FC Chornomorets Odesa, 2-0, while FC Vorskla Poltava outlasted FC Tavriya Simferopol to claim a 1-0 victory.
Metalist held
FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih and FC Metalurh Zaporizhya played out a goalless draw, while FC Polihraftekhnica Olexandria drew 1-1 with FC Metalist Kharkiv. FC Karpaty Lviv's game against FC Dynamo Kyiv was postponed.
