Old head to lead new Fiorentina

Vierchowod the saviour 
Vierchowod was revealed as the man to lead Fiorentina 1926 out of Serie C2 – Italy's fourth division – by the new club's owner Diego Della Valle, who said: "We have the coach we wanted, now we have to put the machine in gear."

Previous experience 
Vierchowod, 43, played for the original Fiorentina in 1981/82 during a 20-year career in Serie A. The famous Florence club collapsed last month, however, with a reported debt of €22m.
