FC Shinnik Yaroslavl have completed the signing of Valery Kechinov from FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast.

Creative playmaker
Improving Shinnik, who are in contention for a UEFA Cup spot this season, have signed a creative playmaker in Kechinov, rated as one of the most gifted individuals in the Russian game. Kechinov played at FC Spartak Moskva before moving to Saturn, but injuries prevented him from fulfilling his potential.

Six caps
The 28-year-old Kechinov, who arrives for an undisclosed fee, has played six times for Russia but his last international appearance was back in 1998, before a series of injuries put his career on hold.

Eighteen-month deal
The midfield player has signed an 18-month deal with the Yaroslavl club with the aim of returning to prominence at both club and international level. Shinnik are currently sixth in the Premier-Liga, 16 points behind joint leaders FC Spartak Moskva and FC Lokomotiv Moskva. They held Lokomotiv to a goalless draw in their most recent outing.

Conflict with coach
Kechinov, an idol of Saturn fans, scored nine goals for the club in 2001, but was transfer-listed this season after a conflict with the head coach, Vitaly Shevchuk.
