Lithuania round-up: Atlantas close the gap

Members

FK Atlantas moved to within six points of leaders FKB Kaunas with a comfortable win on Friday night.

Falling apart
Having resisted for most of the first half, Gelezinis Vilkas suddenly fell apart, conceding three quick goals to the hosts. It continued to be a game for the strikers after the break, with Vidas Dancenko, Tadas Labukas, Mindaugas Cepas and Elnaras Tarvydas on target for Atlantas, and Antanas Tautvydas and Gvidas Juska scoring consolation goals for the visitors.

Zalgiris woe
Meanwhile, FK Zalgiris Vilnius risk finishing outside the top three for the first time after going nine games without a win. Zalgiris could only draw 2-2 at home to FK Suduva on Friday, and needed a late goal from Andrey Sorokin to rescue a point. Dauinius Kunevicius and Dainius Suliauskas had put the away team ahead after Andrius Tereskinas broke the deadlock for the hosts.

Ekranas stalemate
However, FK Ekranas failed to take advantage as they were held 0-0 by SFK Sakalas on Saturday. The fourth-placed team stayed a point behind Zalgiris, with FK Inkaras a further point adrift following their 1-0 home success against FK Nevézis. Vidas Kauspadas was the match-winner in Kaunas.
