Lithuanian 1. Lyga leaders FBK Kaunas ensured they remained seven points clear of second-placed FK Atlantas at the weekend with a 1-0 win over FK Inkaras.
Papeckys decisive
The visitors, who have a game in hand over Atlantas, bagged all three points in Sunday’s clash thanks to a Tadas Papeckys strike on 15 minutes.
Atlantas frustrated
The result was a blow for Atlantas, who hoped that their 4-1 demolition of FK Ekranas on Saturday would see them gain ground on the leaders. They raced into a 2-0 lead within 13 minutes after a Dainius Zernys penalty and a clinical strike from Arunas Suika.
Scant consolation
Vidas Dancenka and Tomas Tamosauskas both scored early in the second half and Egidijus Varnas' late effort was scant consolation for the thoroughly-outclassed Ekranas.
Resounding victory
FK Sakalas also enjoyed a resounding victory, despatching FK Nevézis 3-0. Andrius Oriolas fired in the opener on three minutes and Saulias Lesnickas made it 2-0 30 minutes later. The third goal came courtesy of Rolandas Vaineikis.
Inspired comeback
In Saturday’s other encounter, Tomas Radzinevicius struck twice for FK Suduva in their 4-2 home victory over FK Gelezinis-Vilkas. It was a determined comeback from the hosts, who suffered an early set-back when Gvidas Juska fired in on 14 minutes.
Radzinevicius double
Andrius Larcenka levelled six minutes before the break and Radzinevicius then fired Suduva into a 3-1 lead with two goals inside fifteen minutes. Nerijus Sidlauskas hit the fourth before Saulius Laibinis pulled one back at the death.
