Brovarskiy steps down at Karpaty

FC Karpaty Lviv coach Levko Brovarskiy has resigned his post citing deteriorating health.

FC Karpaty Lviv coach Levko Brovarskiy has resigned from the club citing deteriorating health.

Surprise resignations
With Ukrainian UEFA Cup contenders FC Metalurh Zaporizhya and FC Shakhtar Donetsk having both recently lost coaches due to surprise resignations, Karpaty followed in their footsteps as Brovarskiy's resignation was duly accepted by the club.

Health problems
The coach cited health problems as the reason behind his resignation, but his health might well have been affected by the poor performances of his side this season. Karpaty have won only twice in ten games.

Veteran player
His departure marks the end of Brovarskiy's second spell at the club having led them to a tenth-place finish in 2000/01. The 53-year-old, who played 412 games for Karpaty before moving into coaching, has offered to stay at a club in another capacity.

Khodukin in command
Valentin Khodukin will take over as caretaker coach while Karpaty decide on their next move. Khodukin has previously coached FC Cymetnik Horda and FC Zakarpattya Uzhgorod, as well as spending a spell at Karpaty in the mid-1990s.
