FC Dynamo Kyiv dropped two points at FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, while FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk stayed top after a victory at FC Chornomorets Odesa in the latest round of Ukrainian Premier League fixtures.
Dynamo drop to fourth
Dynamo, rested some of their key players and started with 17-year-old Olexandre Aliyev - the youngest-ever player to appear for the club - but were unable to unlock the Kryvbas defence. A 0-0 draw saw Dynamo dropping two vital points and falling to fourth place.
Zabov and Gay get points
Kyiv's archrivals, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, celebrated a victory on the road, beating FC Vorskla Poltava 2-1. Hennadiy Zubov scored a penalty on 62 minutes, and Olexiy Gay, who was added to the Ukrainian national squad last week, doubled the lead. Denis Sokolovskiy pulled one back for Vorskla.
Venglynsky drives Dnipro
Dnipro beat Chornomorets 1-0, the only goal being scored by Oleh Venglynsky six minutes before the whistle. The goal, the fifth in eight games for Venglynsky, means that Dnipro are now the the clear leaders, with 20 points from eight games.
Creative Arsenal
FC Metalurh Donetsk could not contain visitors FC Arsenal Kyiv, as Andriy Chernov and Shalva Apkhazava struck once apiece to cancel out a goal by Georgian international Gocha Jamarauli and win 2-1.
Win for Volyn
FC Metalurh Mariupil salvaged a 1-1 draw against FC Metalist Kharkiv, while the game between FC Polihraftekhnica Olexandria and FC Tavriya Simferopol ended with the same scoreline. Finally FC Volyn Lutsk beat FC Karpaty Lviv 2-0.
