Article body
Ali Osman Renklibay has resigned as coach of the Turkish first division club Göztepe after only four weeks in charge.
Poor run
Three consecutive defeats, following a 2-1 win over Elazigspor in the first week of the season, led Renklibay to his decision to stand down. “It has been very hard to continue working under severe criticism. I could not stand this anymore. I am responsible for the club’s bad run. I want to thank everybody who supported me,” Renklibay said.
First to go
Göztepe's director of football Halil Kiraz said the club respected Renklibay’s decision and added they would start looking for a new coach immediately. Göztepe are in 16th position in the 1. Lig with three points and are the first Turkish club to lose their coach this season.
